Winter 2010 Menu
Discovery Preschool's menu is an International menu, introducing children to foods from
around the world. The recipes have been adapted to be child friendly, with no heavy spices. We participate in the Child Care
Food Program, and observe the CACFP nutritional guidelines in planning our daily menus. Breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack
are served to all children. We encourage but do not force children to try new foods, helping develop healthy attitudes toward
a wide variety of food.
Each day we highlight foods from different countries. We are careful to include meals with
fish, salads, fresh fruits and vegetables, and healthy snack choices. Whenever possible, we will use Montana grown foods,
and organic vegetables from the Farmer's Market. The majority of our menu is home-made from scratch, rather than pre-prepared
or frozen.
Infant/ Toddler meals will include finger foods and foods that are easy to digest. Example: Chicken cubed,
peas, soft carrots, noodles, milk.
Below are a few examples of the lunchtime meals we offer the children at Discovery
Preschool.
